To V-groove honeycomb board for a 90-degree fold, remove a wedge from the inside of the fold while preserving the opposite face as a hinge. A nominal 90-degree groove is a starting geometry. The finished corner also depends on groove depth, face material and how the board is supported and closed.

Define which face stays intact
Mark the display face, the groove side and the fold direction on the drawing. For an outside display corner, the outer liner normally stays continuous. The groove closes on the inside as the panels fold. Check the actual tool description with the supplier because a blade angle and the included groove angle can be specified differently.
| What you see | What to investigate | How to check it |
|---|---|---|
| A corner that springs open | Material left at the groove base or hinge stiffness | Compare a cross-section with the folded result |
| A white line or split on the face | Cut depth, liner construction or handling | Inspect the outer surface under raking light |
| Closed corner with a visible step | Groove position or panel allowance | Measure both finished panels from the same datum |

Qualify the corner on a real part
Cut trial strips from the production board. Record the board thickness, face construction and which side is up. Inspect each groove before folding, then fold it in a square fixture and measure the corner after release. If the finished product uses adhesive, include the intended glue and curing process in the final test. Check a full-sized part after the strips pass. A short strip can conceal position errors that become visible on a tall display.
Frequently asked questions
Can a creasing wheel replace a V-groove tool?
Creasing compresses the board. A V-groove creates clearance by removing a wedge. Compare the two on your board when the design permits either fold construction.
What belongs in the configuration request?
Send a board sample, measured thickness, groove-side drawing, finished angle and acceptable appearance of the outer face. Ask JEKE to verify the tool configuration with a folded sample.
